McAlonie: We're Ready For It
Michaela McAlonie has spoke of her excitement ahead of Friday night's Edinburgh Derby.
Following Sunday's draw at Petershill Park - which came after a few narrow losses in the league - McAlonie is keen to impress a packed-out Meadowbank.
"We’re very excited," the midfielder told Hibs TV.
"We’ve got a lot to prove. We’ll be looking to put things right. I think (the Glasgow City) game helped us get our confidence and showed what we can do.
"As long as we stick together and follow our game plan, I’m sure the game will go well for us."
With a strong crowd expected under the lights at Meadowbank, McAlonie is eager to take to the pitch.
"It’s different. I love a midweek game, especially at night time under the lights. There’s nothing better you can really ask for.
"I’m looking forward to that, and having everyone come along and support us. It’ll be special."
McAlonie is well-aware that there is pressure on Hibs to put on a strong Derby showing after a few tough post-split fixtures.
"I think if you look at our last couple of performances, it’s not been the performances that we want. But we’ve been wanting to put that right and we started from the City game.
"We’ve got a lot to prove tomorrow night. We are ready for it. We’ve had good performances against Hearts and good wins so we know it’s possible.
"We just have to believe in ourselves and be ready for a battle. That’s what it’ll be: a battle."
