The Rap Game UK has become a BBC Three and BBC iPlayer favourite after discovering scores of new budding rap musicians and writers on the programme.

Iconic British rap duo Krept and Konan, known for hits such as Freak Of The Week, pair up with grime DJ legend and creator of the Beeb’s Grime Kids, DJ Target to find the next big thing in rap music alongside a collection of celebrity helpers.

The programme has so far aired five series and has become the longest-running unscripted TV show focusing on Black British music and culture.

This time around, in a brand new twist, the show will be heading up North to Liverpool to find undiscovered hip-hop talent in England.

Krept, Konan and Target will watch on as the aspiring rappers take part in rap battles, clashes and big-production performances whilst helping to mentor and develop their musical, lyrical and performing prowess.

The lucky champ will gain a whopping £20,000 in cash as well as join a longer-running mentorship scheme to help assist them in the release of their own music.

Fans can expect to see even more famous faces in the upcoming series after having featured stars including M Huncho, K-Trap, Ray BLK and Chip in the last series.

Last year, rapper LR Loose, from Lewisham, bagged the top prize after impressing the superstar rap panel.

Speaking after ge won the contest last year, the budding musician said: “It still hasn’t sunk in yet that I’ve actually won the Rap Game! Showcasing my talent to the world is something I’ve been desperate to do so I’m grateful for the opportunity.

“I started rapping when I was 14 because of Krept and Konan – so to achieve what I have, the way I have, is truly a blessing.”

The Rap Game UK series six is expected to debut in the latter half of the year on the BBC.

Speaking of bringing the programme back for its sixth incarnation, executive producer Trent Williams-Jones said: “It’s great to be back working with the BBC on the sixth season of The Rap Game UK and we’re incredibly proud to be making this show.

“Season 5 was our most regionally and musically diverse series yet with plenty of twists thrown in and once again, we’re looking for a rich mix of talented artists with authentic voices on our search for the UK’s best unsigned rappers. We’re excited to see what new talent will emerge!”

Whoever emerges victorious will be hoping to find themselves enjoying the success of current UK rap heavyweights such as Stormzy, Central Cee, Dave and Bugzy Malone.
