In a Reddit post, user Lillith32 explained that she found the pearl necklace on the “fashion jewelry rack” at her local thrift store.

Impressed by the $10 price tag, the poster decided to buy the jewelry item.

She revealed that she never planned on keeping the necklace and instead intended to give it as a gift.

“Looks like my mom will be getting a late Christmas gift,” she wrote.

After taking the item home, the Redditor noticed a name etched into the clasp of the item.

She included a picture showing that the item appeared to come from Tiffany & Co.

Reddit users shared their thoughts on the 16-inch necklace in the comments section.

“Tiffany pearls, depending on the age, are VERY expensive,” wrote one reader.

“I would take them to Tiffany to be cleaned and possibly appraised.”

“Tiffany guarantees jewelry for life,” explained another commenter.

“You can take that to your nearest Tiffany’s for a cleaning and restringing and they’ll send it back to you in a gift pouch and box.”

Another person joked about the original poster’s accidental good fortune.

“You’re the only person in the world that I would suggest, to consider gambling,” they said.

One reader reminisced about a similar necklace they owned from the designer brand.

“I have this necklace! I got it for graduation in 2005. I’m certain they were somewhere in the ballpark of $500 retail,” they wrote.

They likely didn’t think they could be real since they’re unusual.

“I loved these pearls, I still have them somewhere.”

“So beautiful! I think I’d cry. Lucky mom!” commented another impressed Reddit user.

“See! This is why I’m teaching my kid the importance of thrifting! Maybe it’ll pay off in the form of Tiffany Pearls one day!”

Lillith revealed that the necklace was likely to be made with freshwater pearls.

“They’re cultured freshwater pearls according to my research. Ginormous for freshwater pearls!” she explained in the comments section.

“That’s probably why our thrift store put them out with fashion jewelry, they likely didn’t think they could be real since they’re unusual.”
