DUE DATE! Property tax deadline approaches

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The clock is ticking, the due date for paying your property taxes is here!

Friday, May 10th is the last day you can pay your taxes on time. The Shawnee County Treasurer is sending out a reminder ahead of the cutoff.

Taxes can be paid off through the mail, online, in person, or via drop boxes in the courthouse parking lot of the Annex on 17th Street.

The county accepts cash, credit cards or checks.

“Thank you to the taxpayers who pay their taxes on time," Shawnee County Treasurer Larry Mah said. "We do appreciate it, we always say thank you in a formal way. I can guarantee you that everyone that works at Shawnee County is working hard to make sure you have value from those dollars, so thank you.”

If you're sending in that payment by mail, the Treasurer says they go off the postmark date, so make sure you get that done before midnight.
