SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Ron Suriano II has been working to open Suriano's Deli & Italian Specialties at 140 Clinton Street in Schenectady for about three years now. After some delays, he's finally close to opening the deli.

"It’s been a long haul after having some set backs with the building," Suriano told NEWS10. "This space needed so much more work then I expected."

Suriano also owns Moisture Salon, which he recently moved into the adjoining space at 140 Clinton Street. With that space also needing renovations, that caused more delays with opening the deli, said Suriano.

The deli will have meats, premade foods, frozen entrees, pasta, olives, cheeses, and hot daily entrees for take out. Suriano’s Deli & Italian Specialties will also have a community kitchen for people to rent, said Suriano.

"It’s been a crazy ride and now I am ready to start building a great team at the deli so we can provide great food and fun kitchen accessories that would make great gift baskets and more," said Suriano. "I am buying retail and groceries from local vendors and stocking the shelves now."

Suriano said he will soon be reaching out to New York State for his inspections. He's hoping to open Suriano's Deli & Italian Specialties around Memorial Day weekend.
