In her viral video, Jay (@sweetfacej86) broke down each of her tips for her followers.

The TikToker, who owns three felines, explained that she strips her bed every day and sprays her sheets with an allergen spray.

Jay told her audience that she sprays the product throughout her home to ensure the comfort of her guests as well as her husband.

She also uses the $7 Febreeze Unstopables Touch Fabric Spray and Odor Fighter, available from Target.

The homeowner revealed that the product is one of her favorites due to its long-lasting scent.

For her next step, Jay used a lint roller on her bedding to remove any dander from her sheets.

She told her audience that she does this cleaning maneuver every day.

Jay also shared a “game changer to your air quality and the way your house smells.”

She recommended investing in high-quality air purifiers for your home.

The cat mom revealed that she has three purifiers for the various rooms in her house.

In her bedroom, she has a Winix air purifier, which are available from Home Depot starting at $80.

“We like to keep the air very purified, moving, and circulating,” Jay explained.

“I feel like that truly helps, especially when you live in a state where we have a lot of cold months so we can’t just open the windows all the time.”

She also suggested using concentrated sprays and scented candles from stores like Bath & Body Works to keep your space smelling fresh.

The National Library of Medicine carried out a study into the effect of air purifiers on reducing cat allergens.

Preventative strategies for pet allergens

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences shared some tips for reducing exposure to pet-related allergens.

  • Keep pets out of the bedroom, off furniture, and out of cars
  • Use allergen-proof fabric covers on mattresses and pillows
  • Remove or replace carpets
  • Vacuum regularly and use a cleaner with a HEPA filter
  • Bathe dogs at least twice a week
  • Wash your hands and clothes after playing with your pet
  • Avoid contact with soiled litter
  • Dust often with a damp cloth

“Early and late asthmatic responses were significantly reduced using portable HEPA air cleaners in an environmental exposure chamber,” they reported.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.

“I feel like cat owners are the cleanest people ever. I’m an obsessive cleaner, great tips!” wrote one viewer.

“I lint roll my bed and couches every day as well. Get the really big lint roller. Game changer,” said another follower.

“Been using that allergen spray for years now love it!” commented a third person.
