IPL 2024: LSG Owner Sanjiv Goenka Restricts Comments Section On Instagram Amid Social Media Backlash
New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka has disabled his comments section on Instagram in an attempt to save himself from the social media bashing after his animated chat with captain KL Rahul following their humiliating loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Goenka came into limelight after the industrialist’s chat, what looked more like an outburst against Rahul with the latter in a loss of words. Following the incident, Goenka became a target of social media backlash.
Even former players-turned-commentators too opined that the chat could have been done behind closed doors and not publicly. Although fans are bashing Goenka on social media, they are not able to reach to him directly. Since the incident, LSG haven’t made any social media posts. The players too have refrained from making any posts on their respective social media platforms.
Since that incident, there has been no activity on Lucknow’s social media accounts while the players too have distanced themselves from making any posts on public domains. According to an Indian Express report, the owners questioned the team’s strategies against SRH.
Chasing LSG’s 165/4, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma went berserk as SRH reached their target in just 9.4 overs without losing a wicket. The loss also affected LSG’s net run rate and they will have to depend on other teams for their playoffs qualification.
The report also added that Goenka apologized to Rahul after the incident. Speculations also emerged that Rahul might be relieved off his captaincy ahead of the upcoming edition. In case, Rahul steps down or relieved from captaincy, Nicolas Pooran will be given the responsibility.
