CT teen charged with striking officer with car while fleeing from ‘car meetup’

A Bridgeport teen has been charged with allegedly striking an officer and hitting a police cruiser with his car in Milford earlier this week.

Keith Pagan, 19, is facing multiple charges including reckless endangerment and reckless driving following an incident in Milford on Wednesday, according to the Milford Police Department.

Police said that officers were patrolling Boston Post Road Wednesday, where a “car meetup” involving a large amount vehicles was being held.

An officer was driving on East Town Road when a black Acura TSX that was headed west on Boston Post Road reportedly slowed down in the middle of the road creating a backfire that caused a loud noise, according to police.

Police pulled the vehicle over and as officers approached the driver — later identified as Pagan — they allegedly saw what appeared to be a possible firearm in the back seat, police said.

Pagan allegedly put the vehicle in drive and “took off at a high rate of speed striking one officer,” according to police. He also allegedly came close to striking a second officer and a patrol vehicle before speeding off, according to police.

Officers responded to Pagan’s home in Bridgeport where they took him into custody and discovered that the alleged firearm was a toy “gel blaster” gun, police said.

Pagan was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment, interfering with officers, reckless driving, engaging in a police pursuit, causing unnecessary noise and striking a police officer with a motor vehicle, according to police.

He was released on a $40,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on June 4, police said.
