Hello and welcome back to FanPost Friday. Last week we focused on the elite Mariners starting pitching. It’s still very good!

fascinating!

This week we are going to examine how to fix the Mariners offense. It’s still not very good! In terms of run differential, the Mariners are currently ranked 17th at +2.0. Not horrible, but very middling and if you take a look at most of the teams’ records around and below the Mariners, it’s not a group the Mariners want to be associated with.

The three losses in Minnesota aside, this was actually quite a nice week for the Mariners offense as it showed signs of getting right. Winning the series in Houston was huge and scored five runs in both victories there, and then we had the 10-run explosion in Minneapolis largely thanks to Cal Raleigh’s pinch-hit grand slam from his right side. It turns out the Big Dumper is a fan of rye bread and salami.

So, there have been moments of brilliance. It’s been said before, but Evan said it again recently on the Meet at the Mitt podcast, that maybe it’s not actually as Julio goes, go the Mariners....it’s as Cal goes. The Mariners are currently 8-1 when Cal Raleigh smacks a dinger.

But, Cal cannot play every single game and in order for his success to be sustainable, the burden of scoring runs needs to be spread out more evenly throughout the lineup. Julio will catch fire at some point. Josh Rojas just might be That Dude and hopefully continues to his breakout when the league adjusts to him. The Mitches are finding power amidst the strikeouts. Ty France may or may not be cooked. There are plenty of reasons for hope and concern.

But the prompt for today is for you, dear reader, to tell us how YOU would fix the 2024 Seattle Mariners offense.
