Nonetheless, it can be worrying for drivers who aren’t fully aware of what their car does in the heat.

Luckily experts from the RAC have pointed out five things motorists can expect to see from their vehicles this summer.

People are usually concerned when they see pools of water underneath their cars.

This is caused by the air conditioning, according to the experts.

They said the condensed water dripping from the evaporator was designed to leak that way.

The system not only cools the water but also dehumidifies it.

However, if the water is a different colour then you should consider visiting the nearest mechanic.

White smoke coming from the air events is another thing cars do when they’ve been exposed to the hot weather.

Yet, it is nothing to worry about, unless the smoke is acrid, according to the experts at RAC.

The smoke is actually water vapour from the hot humid air.

Drivers can expect to hear loud noises coming from their engine bay while sitting in traffic.

Experts admit that it can be quite alarming to hear a rushing or roaring noise while they’re at a standstill but explained there’s nothing to fear.

The noise is the engine cooling fan cutting in and out.

It doesn’t run all the time to save fuel but kicks in when the engine water temperature rises too high.

Once you get moving again the fan will turn off as the flow of air cools the engine temperatures in the car.

Car experts warned drivers not to park underneath trees as it can result in damage to the car.

The sap from the trees will land on your car and leave a sticky mark.

They will eventually harden and cause paint damage, costing drivers hundreds in repairs.

The best way to remove it is by using lots of hot water and a soapy shampoo solution, the experts claimed.

Sensitive drivers will notice their car feels slower in the summer months, especially if the engine is similar and less powerful.

This is due to the hot summer air being less dense which creates a smaller “bang for your buck”.

The difference is small but it does reduce the engine’s performance efficiency which affects fuel usage.
