Tottenham Hotspur finally put an end to their streak of four losses in a row this afternoon with a 2-1 home victory over now-relegated Burnley.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Guglielmo Vicario – 6.5 – Didn’t have a whole lot to do today but pulled off a great reaction stop in the first half which Romero then cleared.

Pedro Porro – 7.5 – An all-action performance from Pedro Porro. He was excellent on the turn when Spurs were transitioning from defence to attack. Took his goal sensationally as he lashed Tottenham back into the game, but was a little wasteful and selfish with other opportunities.

Cristian Romero – 7 – A typical no-nonsense game from Romero. A goal-saving header away after Vicario’s save in the first 45. To be honest, it’s rare to see him have a bad one these days, even when Spurs concede goals. Ange needs to surround him with more quality.

Micky Van de Ven – 8 – Tottenham’s best player on the day. Not only did his pace dig Tottenham out of more than a few holes, but he stepped up to score the winner from left-back at the end of the game too!

Oliver Skipp – 6 – Got caught out ball-watching a couple of times, including Burnley’s opener. That being said, for his first-ever start at left-back, he competed very well. A step up from Emerson’s recent performances, at the very least.

Yves Bissouma – 7 – Still had some untidy moments today but he was much closer to the Bissouma of old. Receiving the ball with his back to play and turning on a sixpence to start attacks. It’s the first time we have seen that so consistently in months.

Pape Matar Sarr – 7 – Pape’s pressing was a real outlet for Tottenham today, winning the ball back miles up the pitch on multiple occasions. You can never question his effort levels and his quality on the ball will surely only get better.

James Maddison – 6 – Still a long way from the heights of his early-season form, but Maddison looked a lot more creative in space today. Came up with the assist for Micky’s winner and almost scored one of his own when he ghosted into the box with a fantastic piece of dribbling.

Dejan Kulusevski – 4 – Much better in the second half when he moved out to his preferred right side, but was still very wasteful at times. The first half on the left was utterly hopeless. Had his pocket picked too many times and seemed more preoccupied with fouling his man than beating him.

Heung-min Son – 4 – Once again, Son struggled to get into the game beyond a few scuffed shots and some passes with his back to play. For the second game in a row, he looked so much more involved when he moved wide left though. Positive signs for next season when Spurs have a new striker.

Brennan Johnson – 5 – Assisted the Pedro Porro goal but boy was he wasteful in plenty of other situations. Went for goal from a tight angle when he should have cut it back. Blazed multiple crosses beyond their targets. And then missed a tap-in at the back post in the last ten minutes.

Substitutes:

Rodrigo Bentancur – 5.5 – Came on and added a little more composure. Had a good chance blocked towards the end of the game.

Radu Dragusin – 5.5 – Finally some deserved minutes on the pitch with Van de Ven shifted to left-back.

Dane Scarlett – 5.5 – Made space really well with a decoy run for Micky’s winner. Should have really started today in the absence of Richarlison, because Sonny is so much better out wide.

Giovani Lo Celso – N/A

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – N/A
