Sizzling taste of summer Saturday

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Saturday's weather is gearing up to be just as hot as Friday's. But the unseasonably warm weather doesn't last much longer, which is good news for Mother's Day weekend.

Portland has now seen its warmest day of the year, reaching a record 91°F Friday at PDX. It was a record-breaking day for multiple cities and Portland broke its old record of 89°F from 2019.

Saturday will be hot again into the upper 80s, possibly 90°F. However, we're not expecting widespread broken records. Portland would have to surpass 91°F in order to break its May 11th record of broken in 1971. Yes, it will be close.

For your Mother's Day plans, there is no need to stress. Onshore flow returns late Saturday into Sunday which means a drop in temperatures. A high of 80°F is forecast for Sunday.

Mostly sunny weather continues next week with a variety of 70's. There is no rain in the forecast for the next seven days. So stay cool and wear a life jacket if you're going to rivers and lakes this weekend.
