A CAR expert has picked a sporty hot hatchback that petrolheads on a budget can find for less than £2,000.

YouTube star Jonny Brighton, of the channel Cars With JB, is known for helping car fans find the best ‘head turning’ motors that won’t break the bank – and this offering is perhaps as cheap as they come.

The Suzuki Swift Sport is a budget supermini with plenty of punch[/caption]

According to one of his recent videos, the iconic first generation Suzuki Swift Sport is great set of wheels for drivers looking for a bit of bang for their buck.

With its 1.6-litre engine, the hot hatch version of Suzuki’s compact city car boasts 123 bhp – taking it to 0 to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds.

Jonny said: “These are popular cars for people just getting into track driving, and they’ve been used in track and off-road race series around the world because of how cheap they are to buy and maintain and how well they handle from factory.”

The Swift Sport certainly looks the part too, boasting a sporty grille, aggressive front bumper, and distinctive alloy wheels.

Track-ready petrolheads will also note its dual exhaust pipes and the motor’s overall sleek look.

And they’ll be buoyed to know that Suzuki even entered the Swift Sport into the Junior World Rally Championship in the Group N class.

All that for a bargain second-hand price, which Jonny concludes: “These start at around £1,000, with £2k getting you into a 2007 model with high mileage.”

Your rights when buying a car

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 protects you in almost all purchases you make, including of new or second-hand cars from UK dealerships.

Under the Act, you can expect your car to:

  • Be of satisfactory quality, taking into account its age and mileage
  • Meet the description provided to you before you bought the car, either in the advertisement or in discussions you had prior to sale
  • Be fit for purpose, meaning it can safely take you between places

This comes as hot hatch fans were urged to look out four a stylish example that costs just £10,000 – and it’s even “fun to drive.”

Elsewhere, it’s hay fever season – and experts have revealed five hacks to pollen-proof your motor.
