“Has anyone figured out a good way to mop floors?” they asked.
“[I] feel like at 24 this is something I should already have figured out.
“And I really want to blame being raised by a single workaholic dad who didn’t really know how to clean himself.
“But the truth is you choose who you are and I guess I just never learned about mops.”
UNDER THE RUG
Another Redditor chimed in to give their tried-and-true mopping advice.
“The number one thing that helped me was having a ‘good enough’ attitude in regards to mopping,” they said.
“Sometimes ‘good enough’ for me means cleaning under every piece of furniture, getting all the corners, and scrubbing stubborn dirt spots.
“Other times, ‘good enough’ is not doing any of that and only focusing trafficked areas.
“I don’t have a crawling baby who actually needs a thoroughly disinfected floor, and I’m going to mop again in a week or three anyway, so I’m not letting ‘perfect’ be the enemy of ‘done’.
“The number two thing that helped me was having a mopping schedule and routine where I pick a day of the week to mop, and mop rooms in a certain order.
“I like to mop on Mondays or Tuesdays to have my floors fresh for the rest of the week and I always start mopping in my bedroom first because that’s when the mop water is the cleanest.
“The room where the litter boxes are goes last, because I don’t want to spread that particular brand of filth throughout the rest of my house (anymore than the cats are doing anyway).”
The Redditor also assured not to be too hard on oneself when it comes to mopping.
“For daily or weekly chores, you can’t expect perfection, because every day and every week are different from each other,” they added.
“So just do your best. You’ll always have the opportunity try again next time.”
“Wow this was so helpful,” the original poster replied to the tried-and-true cleaning advice.
“Thank you so much I really appreciate the wisdom.”
The Redditor also recommended a particular brand of mop to get the job done.
They use the Anrekeyh Spin Mop, $17.99, Amazon.
