Furious Dover residents slam Natalie Elphicke for ‘cheating’ them by switching to Labour and abandoning Rwanda plan
FURIOUS Dover residents have accused their MP Natalie Elphicke of “cheating on the electorate” — by switching to Labour and abandoning the Tories’ Rwanda plan.
Voters in her South Coast constituency say they fear Sir Keir Starmer’s party will undo years of hard work by cancelling Rishi Sunak’s flagship migrants policy.
Natalie took over as Conservative MP for Dover after her ex-husband Charlie Elphicke was jailed for sexual assault in 2020.
They split when his appeal was turned down in 2021 and now she’s left the Tories.
Retired master baker Mark Goodchild, 69, said: “She’s as bad as her ex-husband.
“That’s how much respect she has for the electorate.
“He cheated on her and she’s cheated on everyone else by jumping ship.
“She just wants to be in power and she thinks Labour is a safe bet.
“But migration is top of our concerns . . . if Labour get in it will damage the whole country.”
Wife Pat, 68, said: “I think you’ve got to give the Rwanda policy a go.
“I’m very worried about Labour dropping it.
“I don’t think they’ve got a solid plan at all so why she wants to join Labour is beyond me.”
Retired sign company owner William Hough, 78, said: “My view on Natalie Elphicke switching to Labour is, how pathetic and good riddance.
“As much as one likes to castigate Rishi Sunak, at least he is trying to come up with some ideas.
“I think Rwanda will act as a form of deterrent and I’m against Keir Starmer ending the Rwanda policy.
“He’s got no idea what to do on migration.
“If he’s proposing to get MI5 involved in stopping migrants, as he says, that will be distracting them from stopping terrorists.”
Retired HGV driver John Fockton, 74, added: “Natalie Elphicke has never been interested in the people of Dover and neither was her husband.
“She has done nothing for us.”
