Redditor Allthethings13 shared the interior design tip in a viral post.

The home decor enthusiast explained that they’d struggled to make their Ikea pillows more comfortable.

While they enjoyed the brand’s Gurli throw covers for their Slan pillows, their inserts were disappointing.

“I love the Gurli throw pillows, but the inserts at Ikea are flat and terrible and kinda expensive in other places,” they said.

After a bit of experimenting, they were able to find a fix.

Instead of Ikea’s pillow inserts, which couldn’t rise to the occasion, they opted for Ikea’s bed pillows instead.

“Two of their cheap bed pillows folded in half fill it perfectly for less than $6,” they revealed.

While the Redditor paid less than $6 for the two pillows at the time, the price has since risen.

Shoppers can now pick up Ikea’s Slan pillow for $3.79.

The inner cushion is just $4, bringing the total for the two buys to under $8.

Others shared their favorite inexpensive ways to give their pillows a boost.

“We use two of the Ikea pillow inserts in each pillow and they fill them out well,” said one commenter.

“I have discovered if you put them in the dryer, [they] plump up,” offered another.

Fellow Ikea fans shared their favorite pillow accessory picks.

“I personally prefer the FJÄDRAR inserts – they are more expensive at [$7] each, but they are feather-filled and so comfy,” suggested one commenter.

“A good pillow replacement for unexpected guests!

“I have about 20 of them in various rooms of my house.”

One Redditor seconded the suggestion, attesting to the pillow insert’s quality.

“And they last forever,” they added.

“My first two outlasted two sets of ‘alternative down’ and are going strong.”
