Julia Fox Says She’s Celibate
The downtown “it” girl claims she hasn’t had sex in 2.5 years.
Julia Fox, one of New York’s most consistently semi-naked celebrities, claims that she’s been celibate for the last two-and-a-half years. The 34-year-old revealed that she’d chosen to abstain from sex in response to a TikTok featuring two new Bumble ads. The dating app, which is relaunching with new leadership — and relieving women of the responsibility to start the conversation with matches — recently put up billboards with several variations of the text: ““A vow of celibacy is not the answer … introducing the new Bumble.”
Some commenters found the ads offensive for attacking a perfectly valid lifestyle, while others were frustrated Bumble seemed to be implying that people are only opting for vows of celibacy out of laziness. “It’s not a ‘vow of celibacy’!” one TikTok user wrote in the video’s comment section. “We’re just happy alone!” Fox then chimed in, writing, “2.5 years of celibacy and never been better tbh.” Commenters were quick to celebrate her honesty, sharing their own reasons for saying goodbye to sex: “True that Julia, I’ve been celibate for 20 years myself and it gets better each year,” another wrote.
Fox has previously been candid about her indifference towards — and borderline disgust with — men. In a 2023 Elle interview, she said that she was not only done with men, but that she wasn’t dating, wasn’t having sex, and didn’t want to be intimate with anyone: “I want to be left alone,” she said at the time. “Like, don’t talk to me, don’t look at me, don’t bother me.” Though Fox previously said that she never slept with Kanye West during their short-lived relationship in early 2022, this is the first time we’ve heard just how long she’s been celibate for. I mean, hey, if a conventionally attractive celebrity doesn’t need sex, maybe I don’t either. Hot Celibate Summer, anyone?
