Efforts underway to resume suspended climate change projects in Afghanistan

The National Environmental Protection Agency urges the global community to resume suspended projects in Afghanistan’s climate change response sector.

In a newsletter issued on Sunday, the National Environmental Protection Agency stated that Hafez Azizurrahman, the head of the agency, in a meeting with Stephen Rodrigues, the head of the United Nations Development Programme for Afghanistan, called for the resumption of suspended projects in Afghanistan’s climate change combat sector.

According to the newsletter, Hafez invited the Taliban to the COP28 meeting and emphasized that environmental issues should not be politicized.

Meanwhile, Stephen Rodrigues stated in the meeting that efforts are being made to restart suspended projects in Afghanistan’s climate change combat sector.

It is noteworthy that, according to information from the National Environmental Protection Agency, the global community’s work on 32 projects in the environmental sector in Afghanistan is currently halted.
