UAlbany softball headed to College Station Regional

The University at Albany softball team has been selected to compete in the Bryan-College Station Regional announced Sunday during the NCAA Selection Show.

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) -- The University at Albany softball team has been selected to compete in the Bryan-College Station Regional announced Sunday during the NCAA Selection Show. 

The Bryan-College Station Regional will be played at and hosted by Texas A&M. Penn State and Texas State will be joining UAlbany and Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

The Great Danes will begin their action against the host, Texas A&M. The Aggies earned the tournament’s 16th overall seed. 

In her 30th season at the helm, head coach Chris Cannata led the Great Danes to their eighth America East Championship title. Going 3-0 in the tournament for the first time since 2011, UAlbany defeated UMass Lowell, 4-0, in the championship game for their first title since 2018. Pitching 12 strikeouts throughout the tournament, graduate student Wendi Hammond was named the Most Outstanding Player. Graduate students Morgan Petty and Maddi Petrella, and sophomore Sara Anderson joined Hammond on the All-Tournament Team.

Friday, May 17

Game 1: Penn State (34-18) vs Texas State (45-13)

Game 2: UAlbany (33-12) at Texas A&M (40-13)
