Officials in the Ghor Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department say that food has been distributed to 11,453 needy families in the districts of Tolak and Lal-e-Sarjangal in this province.

Zabihullah Ghausizadeh, the media office manager at the Ghor Rural Rehabilitation and Development Directorate, states that these food aids were distributed in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and technical cooperation from humanitarian and WASSA institutions, coordinated through this department.

According to him, the aid includes flour, oil, chickpea lentils, salt, and nutritious substances for children and pregnant women. It was distributed to 6,424 families in the Tolak district and 5,029 in the Lal—e—Sarjangal district.

Recent flash floods have wreaked havoc across several provinces in Afghanistan, leading to significant loss of life and damage to infrastructure. Emergency response teams are struggling to provide relief amid continuing adverse weather conditions, which threaten further flooding and displacement of communities.

The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is worsening as these natural disasters compound the severe economic hardships already faced by millions. International aid agencies are calling for increased funding and assistance to address the immediate needs of affected populations and to help rebuild the devastated areas.

In addition to food and shelter, there is an urgent need for medical supplies and clean water. The risk of waterborne diseases is high, as many families have been left without access to clean drinking water. Humanitarian efforts are focused on preventing a health crisis amidst the ongoing challenges.
