‘Rebel’ Katy Perry wants people to know she’s ‘moving on to something bigger’ than Idol with revealing dominatrix looks
KATY Perry has been focusing her final American Idol days on her style and future rather than cheerleading the show’s talent, a stylist has said.
She claimed the pop star had suddenly ramped up her outfit choices to maximize impact and self-promote before exiting in just a few weeks.
Katy, 39, shared a photo on Instagram on Tuesday wearing a unique black leather two-piece.
Her butterfly-style leather top showed off her cleavage, bare shoulders, and midriff.
Katy has worn a series of revealing outfits through April.
“Love you Katy, but you really should dress more modest considering this is family TV,” commented one follower.
“Hey Katy, did you blaze a nipple last night in that dress? Luke Bryan made a facial expression that would lead me to believe he saw the malfunction too,” wrote another.
Stylist Tavia Sharp said Katy was being “controlling” and behaving like a “rebel”.
The Roar hitmaker has been a permanent fixture on American Idol since 2017 and season 16.
She has worked with Luke Ryan and Lionel Richie in Season 22 but will sign off after the three-hour finale on May 19.
Katy’s forthcoming album could be released this year.
“Katy is being rebellious,” Sharp told The U.S. Sun.
“She has been trying to show she has more control on the show than the other judges.
“She has brought out dominatrix looks specifically ahead of her exit.
“This is saying she is on to bigger things and self-promoting.
“It is a control mechanism, but it is thoughtless because Idol still pays Katy.”
Katy brought out a blue cut-out dress by Coperni for the show on April 21.
She shared a photo on Instagram when she posed and stuck out her butt.
“Secure that buttcheek, impressionable youth are watching. What is the point of exposing your rear?” asked one follower.

Sharp said the dress showed too much skin and claimed it would make the judging team “uncomfortable.”
“The other judges she sits next to have been seeing so much of Katy’s skin,” she said.
“Lionel and Luke usually dress normally, but Katy’s clothes might make them uncomfortable.
She would have had half a butt cheek sticking out when she sat down behind the desk.

Katy announced she was leaving the reality show on Valentine’s Day on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“I love the show so much, but I wanna go and see the world and maybe bring new music,” she said.
Back then, stylist Amanda Sanders claimed Katy kicked off the series looking “dowdy.”
“Katy is looking how they want her to before she leaves and is a little more what the producers want,” Sanders told The U.S. Sun.
Now, it appears the mom of one has started to stand her ground.
ON THE ATTACK
Sharp claimed Katy had taken her control of her wardrobe back.
During the show on April 19, Katy’s metal top broke and garnered plenty of attention.
“That song… um… broke my top off… I guess it is a woman’s world!” Katy shouted over to Luke and Lionel, who looked stunned.
Sharp noticed Katy had brought out the metal outfit during the last three shows.

The custom top was by Kate Barton and had a metal breastplate,
“The metal bra top has been a trend; she mentions being a shark,” she said.
“When the top snapped, everything and everyone focused on Katy.
“This was similar to her wearing all the black leather.
“Katy is too busy communicating how fierce she thinks she is.”
Katy teamed up with stylist Tatiana Waterford in 2020.
“She has had so many major fashion moments, and at times, it feels hard to top them,” Waterford told Vogue Australia in 2023.
“I constantly have to push myself to dig deeper with references and brainstorm new places we can go together.”
Katy was also styled by Waterford in 2021 for U.S. presidential inauguration celebrations.

Sharp claimed her fashion moments were a “distraction” on the show.
“Katy’s styles are detracting from the participant’s special moments,” she explained.
“The Idol exit wardrobe choices may all indicate Katy’s insecurity.
“These are the participant’s moments.
“They are trying to start their singing careers.
“When Katy put the leather butterfly two-piece on, everyone was probably focused on her cleavage.
“Katy is also styling herself around her new ventures and using the Idol set like a fashion runway.
“Out of courtesy, she needs to pull it all back.
“This is typical of Katy Perry, whose wardrobe is garnering attention.
“She is busy promoting her next big thing in music before leaving American Idol.”
