Two legendary nineties acts to reunite for massive London festival this summer after selling 40 million records
THOSE who fancy a tuneful trip down memory lane should head to the Hyde Park Festival this summer, where not only Natalie Imbruglia, but also The Corrs will headline at the 7th July event.
The legendary nineties performers will take to the stage ahead of US country-pop superstar Shania Twain, in what is being dubbed a ‘fantastic all-female line up.”
But make no mistake that either the Aussie and Irish pop stars are mere support acts.
Sibling supergroup The Corrs have sold more than 40 million and records worldwide and former Neighbours star Natalie Imbruglia sold more than 10 million copies of her 1997 album, Left of the Middle in her heyday.
Last year the fans went into a frenzy when The Corrs who consist of sisters, Andrea, Sharon, Caroline and brother Jim Corr, announced that they’re heading out on tour for the first time since 2017.
But many in Europe were dismayed to learn that they’d be playing stadiums over in Asia, playing Indonesia and The Phillipines followed by Australia and New Zealand.
When they announced the news on social media, “Less than three months until we’re out on the road,” fans begged them to release some dates for Europe and the US.
No doubt now millions of prayers have been answered.
The Corrs released their first album Forgiven, Not Forgotten in 1995 and it went on to sell more than 3m copies in the UK alone.
Meanwhile Australian popstar Natalie Imbruglia was one of the biggest success stories of the 90s.
Her hit songs, including Torn and Shiver won her two Brit Awards as well as six Grammy nominations.
But the mother-of-one who found fame on Australian soap opera Neighbours, admits that fame came with a hefty price tag and one that she says, “nearly sent her insane.”
Her sense of feeling trapped led to a hiatus from the spotlight. Speaking about the decision to step back she said in an interview.
“I was jaded. I needed to take the foot off the pedal and do something different, something I really wanted to do. I didn’t feel I was taking a risk, I actually felt I was taking control. To me it was just very exciting to have time out and do something different.”
Now 48 and a mum to a four-year-old son, Natalie is ready to rock and roll again.
The star took to social media to express her excitement to be joining Shania Twain and The Corrs onstage.
She said: “ I am so excited to announce I will e joining the all girl line-up as a special guest at @bsthydepark on Sunday 7th July. Lets go girls.”
