Kavanagh: Let's honour Ottawa's connection to the Irish Famine of 1847

Recently, some new elements of the story have come to light. And a small Lowertown park called MacDonald Gardens Park should be used to memorialize this history.

It is important to be open to learning new aspects of our history that were formerly not known or understood fully. Sometimes new information about the past calls for action to deepen and even enhance what we thought we knew.
