King Charles revealed one side effect he’s faced during his treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer: he lost his sense of taste.
The 75-year-old monarch was speaking with British Army vet Aaron Mapplebeck, who also battled cancer, when he shared that he had lost his sense of taste. King Charles reportedly responded saying he had also lost his sense of taste (via Daily Mail).

The Palace never disclosed what type of cancer the King has been treated for, but this particular symptom is common with certain types of cancers, as well as cancer treatments. In fact, the American Cancer Society explicitly states, “Certain types of cancer and its treatment can change your senses of taste and smell.” It’s understood that certain cancer drugs, as well as radiation or chemotherapy, can alter taste as well.
