One person seriously injured when vehicle crashes off I-95 ramp, ends up down embankment

One person was seriously injured and had to be extricated from a vehicle following a crash off of Interstate 95 in Milford Sunday night.

One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being extricated from a vehicle that crashed off of Interstate 95 in Milford Sunday night and ended up down an embankment.

Emergency crews responded to the area of the Exit 39B entrance ramp for I-95 North where a vehicle had crashed and ended up deep into the woods, according to the Milford Fire Department.

Fire officials said crews had to cut trees and clear brush to get to the sedan. Two people from the vehicle were able to escape on their own, but a third was trapped inside, according to fire officials.

Crews worked to extricate the victim while also providing advanced life support, fire officials said. The victim was put into a stokes basket once they were extricated and taken to an area hospital in serious condition, officials said.

The two other occupants were also taken to area hospitals.
