Retired NYSP officer dies from 9/11 complications
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A retired New York State Police officer died from 9/11 complications on Thursday, May 9. Sgt. Benedicto Albizu Jr., 66, served as an Aviation Unit member in Albany and NYC after the September 11 attacks.
New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association (PBA) announced Albizu's passing and said he served with New York State Police for 33 years, retiring in 2018. Albizu was assigned to the Troop H Aviation Unit.
Albizu's calling hours are Sunday, May 19, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Burnett and White Funeral Home in Red Hook. The funeral will be held at St. John’s Reformed Church on Monday, May 20, at 11 a.m.
