Kay finally made a triumphant return to the Sky News studio yesterday morning but immediately sparked concern after pulling out of hosting today’s edition.

The TV presenter was nowhere to be found as the show began to wake Britain up to the biggest headlines and stories of the day.

Instead, her sidekicks Wilfred Frost, Leah Boletto and Mhari Aurora took control of the programme instead.

It appeared an unusual move for Kay given that she had only appeared on onre pfrogramme before ‘going missing’ once again.

Sparking fan worry, one viewer of the show wrote: “#kayburley was back for a day, then missing again? Best job in the world?”

Whilst Kay was notably absent from her usual in-studio hosting role, she was in fact based elsewhere ahead of a big interview.

A trailer was broadcast during the episode which confirmed that Kay was in Wigan where she was meeting and interviewing Andy Burnham, the mayor for Greater Manchester, for a special broadcast later this week.

Kay could be seen ready for action as she strolled among the seats of Wigan Stadium ahead of chatting to Andy.

Whilst Kay’s interview is expected to play out later this week, it is currently unknown if she will be returning to her regular hosting duties again this week.

Kay has been taking some time off from her role amid a tough time in her personal life.

The television star emotionally revealed that her sister was battling cancer in an emotional online post.

She posted a snap with her ‘baby sister’ Jacqueline to her thousands of followers on social media.

Alongside it, Kay revealed: “Jacqueline, who has been stoic in her determination to take on a disease that claimed both my mother and grandmother.”

She added: “Doesn’t she look fabulous in her wig?”

Kay previously spoke about her mother’s battle cancer and tragic death on Good Morning Britain back in 2018.

She admitted: “My mum died when she was my age.

“My little boy was eight months old. It still makes me sad actually just to think about it.
