A Corvallis police car was totaled after a crash early Sunday morning, authorities said.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Corvallis police car was totaled after a crash early Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to Corvallis police, the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. when witnesses reported seeing the patrol vehicle slow down to make a right turn when it was hit from behind at nearly 50 miles per hour.

Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and found that the driver, Amanda Johnston, 24, had a blood alcohol content of .19% at the time and she was cited for the incident.

The officer who was hit was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and the vehicle was totaled due to the collision.
