Travis Kelce’s Game Show Sounds Kind of Good?
The cast of Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity? is pretty stacked.
Back in March, it was reported that Travis Kelce was circling an opportunity to host a reboot of Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?. The hook was that instead of playing against children, people would compete to see if they were smarter than celebrities. At the time, I was cautiously optimistic. I could definitely see how Kelce would fit right in to this specific hosting role. Now the rest of the cast has been announced, and I’m pleased to report that I’m all in on this silly show.
On Tuesday, Amazon announced that Kelce will be joined by comedians Nicole Byer, Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Lilly Singh, and Ron Funches. From the world of sports, former wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Thursday Night Football analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick will be joining the show. And what would this kind of show be without some reality stars? Vanderpump Rules’s Lala Kent and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’s Garcelle Beauvais have been tapped to lend their brains to the show, along with Sylvester Stallone’s daughter Sophia Stallone.
Do you think Kelce will be an effective ringleader when Byer and Glaser are going off the rails? I don’t, which is why I think this might actually be compelling television. I really do want to see Lala Kent try to help some IT guy from Boise solve a fourth-grade history question while Kelce looks on, equally stumped. After all, his girlfriend is the one who knows Aristotle.
