And after that point sex education lessons must be based on “scientific” fact rather than gender ideology.

A Cabinet memo says fresh government guidance due for Thursday will be making clear that gender identity “is a contested subject that should not be taught”.

Rishi Sunak ordered a review into the Relationships, Sex and Health Education lessons last year after fury over “age-inappropriate, extreme, sexualising and inaccurate” content.

Tory MP Miriam Cates told the PM that kids were being taught there were 72 genders, as well as being shown graphic lessons on oral sex.

In a letter to ministers seeking approval, Ms Keegan categorically says that “sex education will not be taught before Year 5”, nine and 10 year olds.

Sex education will be allowed from Year 6 but must be totally scientific rather than gender ideology.
