50 yo Premier League manager says he is flattered to be linked with Man Utd - report

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United. 

Despite the recent results, the Dutchman will reportedly not be sacked before the FA Cup final against Manchester City later this month. 

With the 54-year-old unlikely to stay beyond the summer, several managers have been linked with the club, including Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter.   

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is also on the shortlist to replace Ten Hag this summer. 

In a recent interview with Bold, the Dane admitted he is flattered to be linked with Man United, but insisted he is content at Brentford.

He said: “I am really happy where I am. It’s close to being the perfect club to be at. I can see myself being here for many years to come.

“I am close to the owner – the sporting director and everyone around the club. Brentford is a club where I really feel comfortable. 

Asked about the links to other clubs, he added: “Immediately, I think it’s flattering and a recognition of what I do.

“And I am glad that others recognise the work we do at Brentford. That said, it’s not a one-man show about what’s going on at Brentford.” 

Frank has done an excellent job at Brentford since becoming manager in 2018. 

He guided the Bees to the Premier League and has overseen three seasons in the English top-flight. 

However, he is probably not the right man for United.

The Red Devils have hired some of the biggest managerial names in world football since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but none of them have brought back the club’s glory days. 

Ten Hag needs to be given time to build something at United rather than endure speculation about his future.
