19-year-olds arrested following reports of kidnappings

TOPEKA (KSNT) - On Tuesday, the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office said two 19-year-olds had been arrested after reports of kidnappings on Saturday.
Around 1 a.m. on May 11, the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate reports of a kidnapping and robbery in the 3700 block of Southeast 23rd Street. Deputies discovered that on two separate occasions, individuals had gone to the residence to meet someone they were talking with on a dating website.
According to the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office, the suspects had been led into a basement and held against their will and demanded money. The sheriff's office said one victim was forced to go to an ATM to withdraw money. The second victim was released after convincing the suspects they had no money.
Both individuals called 911 after the incidents.
A 19-year-old from Topeka was arrested on the following charges:
- aggravated robbery.
- robbery.
- two counts of aggravated assault.
- kidnapping and interference with law enforcement.
A 19-year-old from Holton was arrested on the following charges:
- two counts of aggravated assault.
- two counts of robbery.
One of the 19-year-olds had multiple warrants for his arrest. The incident is still under investigation.
