First responders rescue missing person from Hudson River

SELKIRK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a missing person call Tuesday morning. That response quickly shifted when authorities located and rescued that person from the Hudson River.

The scene was very active this morning at Henry Hudson Park as multiple agencies responded to the call. The New York State Police were on scene and flew a helicopter low over the Hudson River, as they searched for a 55-year-old woman.

According to Bethlehem Police, at approximately 9:14 A.M. they received a report of a missing person. It was believed she entered the Hudson River earlier in the morning. Shortly after they received the call authorities located her vehicle at Henry Hudson Park.

People continued fishing –  and the park remained open – while resources were deployed on land, water and in the air. A chopper, boats and a K9 unit were all on scene.

About 2.5 hours into the search she was located by the New York State Police Aviation unit.

The woman was pulled out of the river by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office around 11:33 A.M. and transported to shore.

According to Bethlehem Police, the agency leading the investigation, the woman was alert and talking when she arrived on shore. Police have not released the name of that person.

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office, the Bethlehem Police, and the Coeymans and Selkirk Fire Departments all responded to the call and used boats to search the river.

The woman was treated by paramedics from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office on scene, before she was transported by Delmar-Bethlehem EMS to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.
