WATCH: IndiGo Passengers In Verbal Spat With Airline Staff Over Flight Delay, No Food At Rajkot Airport

Chaotic scenes were witnessed at the Rajkot International Airport in Gujarat as angry passengers engaged in a verbal showdown with IndiGo Airlines' staff over prolonged flight delay.

Passengers at the Rajkot International Airport in Gujarat were involved in a tense verbal altercation with IndiGo Airlines‘ staff after the Rajkot-Mumbai flight was delayed for more than two and a half hours, drawing resentment and anger from the travellers who were also unhappy as the airline reportedly did not even provide them refreshment during the long delay.

The incident was caught on camera and the clip has gone viral on social media sites, showing the irate passengers and the IndiGo crew embroiled in a heated argument over the prolonged flight delay and lack of refreshments.

According to reports, the Rajkot-Mumbai flight was scheduled to depart at 7.40 PM on Monday, but was eventually cancelled due to bad weather, resulting in anger among passengers who had to wait for over two and a half hours before the IndiGo announced the cancellation.

Diabetics served ‘sugary food’ during IndiGo delay

Notably, the incident comes a day after a passenger complained that diabetic patients were served sugary foods by IndiGo during a flight delay.

“Hi, my pnr is GP5HGY and I had to miss my international flight to Seattle. This is making me wonder if I want to travel to India with an experience like this. Also I have been here since 3 pm and no one ask us even a glass of water at 9:40 they are serving poor quality food,” the passenger, Swati Singh, posted on X.

She also claimed that during the delay period, diabetic passengers were “forced to eat sugary food to keep up with the inconvenience” while manager shrugged off all queries by saying “we have no option”.

Responding to the aggrieved passenger, IndiGo said “Ma’am, this is not the experience we aim to provide our customers. We regret the inconvenience. Please share your PNR with us via DM so we may check this immediately and assist you further. Vandana”.

Later, the airline issued a statement, stating that IndiGo flight 6E 2286 from Ranchi to Delhi was
cancelled on May 10, 2024 due to a technical issue and “passengers were provided with refreshments and given the option of a full refund or accommodation based on their needs.”

“All passengers received standard refreshment boxes, and no specific requests were made for a diabetic meal to IndiGo staff at the airport. If any passenger informs us of their dietary needs, we offer them suitable options. Our commitment is to always provide a hassle-free experience to our customers,” the airline asserted.
