Aaron Nola had a three-pitch, 85-second inning for the Phillies and MLB fans were blown away

This was ice cold from Aaron Nola.

Aaron Nola probably couldn’t have been more efficient in this inning of baseball if he tried.

On Tuesday, the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies visited their NL East rival in the New York Mets for an afternoon bout. With the Phillies up 2-0 headed into the bottom of the seventh, Nola had put together some pretty tidy work in the low-scoring affair. And things were only going to get better, as Nola managed to throw just three pitches in the entire seventh inning to retire the side and send things along to the eighth.

Things started when Starling Marte hit the first pitch he saw out to right-center field on a short blooper. Unfortunately, the Mets’ good luck ended there, as Francisco Lindor lined out to second base, then Pete Alonso hit into a double play to end the inning. All in all, the inning lasted 85 seconds in real time.

Talk about cool, calm and collected from Nola there. MLB fans thought so as well, as they were just as blown away at Nola’s speedy seventh inning as the Mets were.
