Five top animation filmmakers will reveal secrets behind their projects when they join Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&A event with 2024 Emmy Awards and other TV awards contenders. They will participate in two video discussions to premiere on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:00 p.m. PT; 9:00 p.m. ET. Blue Eye Samurai
Synopsis: Driven by a dream of revenge against those who made her an outcast in Edo-period Japan, a young warrior cuts a bloody path toward her destiny.
Bio: Jane Wu’s career has included “Men in Black: The Series,” “Godzilla: The Series,” “Secret of the Wings” and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
Hazbin Hotel
Synopsis: In an attempt to find a non-violent alternative for reducing Hell’s overpopulation, the daughter of Lucifer opens a rehabilitation hotel that offers a group of misfit demons a chance at redemption.
Bio: Vivienne Medrano’s career has included “Timber,” “Most Wonderful Time,” “Silhouette” and “Vivzie Streem.”
In the Know
Synopsis: Lauren Caspian is the host of In the Know, public radio’s third most popular interview program. He’s a well-meaning, hypocritical nimrod. He’s also a stop motion puppet.
Bio: Brian Leif Hansen’s career has included “ParaNorman,” “The Boxtrolls,” “Kubo and the Two Strings” and “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.”
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off
Synopsis: Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, only to find out her seven evil exes stand in the way of their love.
Bio: BenDavid Grabinski’s career has included “Cost of Living,” “Skiptrace,” “Happily” and “Are You Afraid of the Dark?.” Bryan Lee O’Malley’s career has included “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” “Lost at Sea” and “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Water Crisis.”
