TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State has awarded the Troy Police Department $362,000. This funding comes as a part of a $127 million allocation from the state budget.

The funding gives the department the opportunity to make improvements and expand its technological systems. The Troy Police Department intends to improve and expand city camera systems, enhance license plate readers, and purchase a new drone.

"Policing in the 21st century has become increasingly technological and police departments find themselves struggling to keep up with emerging products and tools. This funding will improve our existing capabilities and enhance our ability to investigate and deter criminal activity in the city. The Troy Police Department is thankful for this necessary financial award," said Police Chief Dan DeWolf.
