Jeffrey Henry, known as DJ Chicken George, died Friday after a cancer battle, his band announced on social media.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Jeffrey Henry, better known as DJ Chicken George, died Friday after a cancer battle, his band announced on social media.

DJ Chicken George was known for his "unique Jazztronica! style" that blended hip-hop with other genres of music, according to Visit Austin.

"Words can't describe how much we'll miss him," the Instagram post from Third Root said. "We ask for prayers of healing at this time."

A social media post from the Austin Boogie Crew said Henry was "a visionary and a singular talent."

"He chatted us up warmly and I’ll never forget what said: because we were doing something musically different, the mountain to climb was gonna be higher, but that we needed to keep pressing on undeterred," the post said.

A GoFundMe for Henry said he was diagnosed with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma—a rare type of cancer—in 2021.
