I’m a waitress and tried out the ‘hair theory’ to see which got me the most tips – the results left me stunned

A WAITRESS has admitted she was left stunned after testing out the “hair theory” to see which style earned her the most tips.

Allison had heard that various hairstyles are more successful with customers than others, so thought she’d give it a try herself – and documented the results in a video on her TikTok page.

She began her experiment on Thursday, with braided pigtails.

As she headed home after her shift, she revealed that the ‘do had earned her £151.19 ($191.30) in tips.

Next up was the bubble ponytail, which she tried out on the Friday, and that style got her £127.16 ($160.90).

Allison went for a braided ponytail – with the ponytail sitting quite high on her head – on Saturday, which was the most successful style of the night.

On Saturday, she managed to rake in an impressive £174.04 ($220.21).

But Sunday was more unsuccessful, as she went with a low ponytail and only managed to get £64.09 ($81.10).

“Trying the server hairstyle theory to see which makes me the most tips!” Allison captioned her video.

People were quick to comment on the clip, with one writing: “Girl hear me out, space buns and a red lip.

“Always worked for me!”

“Wear a flower in your hair,” another suggested.

“It’s proven to make you seem friendlier/more likable. I used to always wear one when I served.”

“I love this idea!” a third praised.

“And I love the idea of a deeper study by changing the hair so the days aren’t a variable as well!

“All styles were very cute.

Which hairstyle brought in the most tips?

1 – Saturday, braided ponytail, £174.04 ($220.21)

2 – Thursday, braided pigtails, £151.19 ($191.30)

3 – Friday, bubble ponytail, £127.16 ($160.90)

4 – Sunday, low ponytail, £64.09 ($81.10)

“I knew the low pony would be the least!”

“To get a more accurate data pool you should try this every same day like every Friday to expect common sales days,” someone else commented.

“Anyone else thinking servers make more than they let on with these numbers?” another asked.

“You can work a week a McDonald’s and not make what they make on a weekend!”

“My husband actually asked me how a server ‘puffed’ her hair in the bubble ponytail,” someone else laughed, adding: “I didn’t know he noticed….”

“Best tips of my life was when I got a pixie cut – it set me apart from other servers at the busy bar so people remembered to come back to me,” another commented.
