LASG TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY WITH COMMUNITY HEALTH MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM

Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) has convened a pivotal stakeholder engagement session focused on advancing the Community Health Management Information System (CHMIS). 

Participants at the event, held recently at the Ostra Events Hall in Ikeja, underscored the commitment to leveraging data and community involvement for enhanced public health outcomes.


The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Olusegun Ogboye set the tone with insightful opening remarks, emphasising the indispensable role of data collection and community engagement in bolstering healthcare efficacy. 

With a keen focus on critical issues such as neonatal mortality and malnutrition, Ogboye emphasised the importance of holistic understanding to drive tailored solutions.


Acknowledging Lagos State’s strides in healthcare,  Ogboye urged stakeholders to fortify community structures, affirming their pivotal role in sustaining long-term progress. 

Reinforcing the importance of robust data systems, he encouraged active participation and constructive dialogue among attendees.


Also speaking, Supervising Permanent Secretary for Lagos State Primary Health Care Board and substantive Permanent Secretary, Health District IV, Dr. Abimbola Bowale, echoed Ogboye’s sentiments. 

Bowale underscored the need for comprehensive data collection beyond health facilities, emphasising CHMIS as a linchpin for agile and responsive healthcare.


“A robust CHMIS transcends technological marvel; it embodies an investment in the well-being of our communities, empowering them and charting a path towards a healthier Lagos”, he  remarked


The Registrar of the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board, Mr. Babatunde  Sanni Adele lauded the initiative, affirming the traditional board’s steadfast support and commitment to ensuring CHMIS’s resilience across the state.


The session culminated in the establishment of a dedicated Technical Working Group tasked with safeguarding CHMIS’s sustainability, underscoring the collective resolve towards transformative healthcare innovation.
