Report: Tottenham cool interest in 24-year-old centre-back ahead of summer spending
CalcioMercato have claimed that while Tottenham were previously keen on signing Alessandro Buongiorno, the North London club have since changed their mind.
The report says that Buongiorno, who has been one of the most consistent centre-backs in Serie A over the last couple of years is expected to leave the Stadio Olimpico Grande this summer and move to a bigger club.
Several Italian sides are said to be showing interest in the 24-year-old, with the likes of AC Milan and Napoli alleged to have sought information about the player.
Spurs have cooled their interest in Buongiorno
The report says that Tottenham were keen on signing Buongiorno ‘a few weeks ago’ as they were ‘convinced’ about his quality.
However, it is claimed that the Lilywhites’ plans have since changed and their interest in the Italy international has ‘cooled down’ a little.
While the outlet does not say why Tottenham have changed their mind, it is revealed that Torino are sticking to their valuation of €30m (£25.7m).
The publication adds that the likes of Milan and Napoli could include some of their players in the operation to bring down the price.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite possible that Tottenham reached out to Buongiorno’s entourage and did not find the Italian to be particularly keen on a move.
Spurs are certainly not going to find it easy to attract a top centre-half to the club this summer, particularly given how little Dragusin has played over the last few months.
