CLARKSON’S Farm boss has revealed the show’s future is uncertain – with no plans for more episodes after season four.
The series has been a huge hit for Prime Video ever since it first launched in 2021.
Following the exploits of Jeremy Clarkson on his Oxfordshire farm – Diddly Squat – the show has become a must-watch for millions of people, and series three has been confirmed as Prime Video’s highest-rated UK original.
But despite its success and huge fan base, show boss Andy Wilman admits he doesn’t know what the future holds for the show beyond series four, which is currently in production.
Speaking to Deadline, he said: “I’ve got no feelings on whether there’s a five or not.
“Jeremy’s the same. He’s like: when we’ve got nothing left to say, let’s walk away.”
Andy, who has worked closely with Jeremy, 64, for years including Prime Video stablemate The Grand Tour, admits his friend has been surprised by the success of the show.
He said: “He never saw this coming in his career [at the age of] 64. He thought his big end moment was that we end The Grand Tour successfully.”
But even though Jeremy and his Grand Tour co-stars Richard Hammond and James May are stepping away from the show after its next series, Andy admitted Jeremy won’t be putting his feet up because of the farm.
He said: “He’s a restless man, he needs work, he needs things to do. And he loves that farm, he’s really at peace in that place.”
Despite his doubts over the future of the show, Andy discussed what has made it so successful.
He said: “I don’t think we saw the real magic until the sheep arrived [in series one].
And obviously Kaleb [Cooper] bollocking Jeremy. Those are the moments where you go: alright, we’ve really got something here.”
He continued: “Everybody wants to be in that little world because it’s a bit of a 1950s world where a big problem is a cow that’s in trouble, or a dam that’s not mended. Very little of consequence happens.
“It’s like an escape pod. Forget all your troubles and be on Clarkson’s Farm.”
