Dan Walker thanks fans as he celebrates huge career milestone away from TV
DAN Walker is celebrating the huge achievement of racking up over two million listeners on the airwaves, and has thanked fans for tuning in.
The journalist wears a variety of hats, as he currently presents 5 News on Channel 5 in addition to hosting the weekday breakfast show on Classic FM.
He admitted he was blown away by the support he has received for his radio venture after only starting the job a few months ago.
While Dan acknowledges that classical music is the most important part of the radio show, he also feels proud that he has managed to amass such a following in a short period of time.
In an emotional Instagram post, the show host shared: “Got some lovely news today…
“I started a new breakfast show on Classic FM in January and, despite a huge amount of schedule change, the switch to DAB+ (which I keep getting told is really significant) and loads of other stuff… today we found out we have OVER 2 MILLION LISTENERS!!!
“Now I know the graphic I made for the photo looks monumentally naff but… THANK YOU… my mind is slightly blown!
“Thanks to brilliant producer @helenajerreat1993, @ssssiena who looks after all our social media stuff and the rest of the top team.
“Most importantly, THANK YOU for listening. The music will always be king at Classic FM but it’s wonderful that you want to be part of the show and your kind messages and enjoyment from the start have been amazing.”
Fans flocked to the comments to support him, with one person exclaiming: “Well done! I love listening and you really help calm my frantic mornings!”
Another chimed in: “Congratulations. You read out my ‘last night later’ yesterday (the potting shed is brilliant, btw) and it’s that interaction and engagement that makes us feel involved. Thank you.”
