Cops have launched an investigation into her tragic death on May 9 at Granada Park Aparthotel in Los Cristianos – located on the southwest coast of the Spanish holiday island.

Police are reportedly probing where the girl’s parents were at the time.

They are also investigating why there was no lifeguard at the pool.

According to Canarian Weekly, the lifeguard clocked off at 6pm and the youngster was found in the water at 6.50pm.

Officials said the Brit girl – who was on holiday with her parents – was pulled from the pool by other guests and hotel staff.

Several cops who were in the area and raced to the scene to help said the youngster was conscious and “very scared” when they arrived, local reports say.

Paramedics battled to save her and rushed her to hospital – where she tragically died.

Last month, a tourist drowned after being swept away by a huge 12ft wave as it hit a seafront in Tenerife.

More than 130 people were also evacuated as freak storms swept through the island.

The 53-year-old Czech tourist fell into the sea at the northern resort of Puerto de la Cruz and drowned despite efforts to save him.

It is believed he was taking pictures of the surf in the natural pools on the sea edge when he was swept away.

Horrified witnesses saw his body in the water and called emergency services.

He was picked up by a helicopter and taken back to land – but could not be revived.
