Authorities trying to identify arm found on Waukegan beach, potential tie to dismembered Milwaukee college student

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office told a local TV station that they are conducting DNA testing to determine whether the arm is linked to the murder of the student.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office said it is forwarding samples from a severed arm found on the Lake Michigan shore in Waukegan to an out-of-state police department to possibly identify the victim.

The right arm, believed to have come from a woman, was discovered on the beach in Waukegan on Saturday, authorities said.

Waukegan police were called to the municipal beach in the 200 block of Sea Horse Drive at around 8:30 p.m. by someone walking along the beach who saw the arm. Police contacted the coroner’s office, which conducted an examination Monday, coroner’s office spokesman Stephen Newton said Thursday.

The coroner’s office said a forensic anthropology examination has been scheduled to help determine the age and gender of the victim.

The office declined to comment on whether the arm may be linked to the killing of a Milwaukee college student. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office told a local TV station that they are conducting DNA testing to determine whether the arm is linked to the student’s death.

Sade Robinson, 19, a student at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, disappeared in early April. She was last seen going out to meet a man for dinner. Her leg was found the following day along a Lake Michigan beach in suburban Milwaukee, and authorities have found other body parts believed to be associated with Robinson’s killing.

The man Robinson met for the date, Maxwell Anderson, 33, has been charged in her death, according to authorities.
