Pundit urges Tottenham to swoop for Man City star this summer

Former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton has asked the Lilywhites to complete a sensational move for Jack Grealish this summer, insisting that the Man City star would significantly improve Ange Postecoglou’s side.

While Grealish has had some outstanding moments since his move to Man City three years ago, the winger has fallen down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order this season.

The England international has come on as a substitute for most of his 20 Premier League appearances this season and some reports have suggested recently that he could be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium.

This includes an update by Football Insider, who claimed a few weeks ago that the Premier League champions are ready to listen to offers for the 28-year-old and wish to use the funds from his sale on new recruits this summer.

Should Spurs move for Jack Grealish?

One would expect several sides to show interest in Grealish should he be put on the shop window and Hutton believes that he would be the perfect addition for Spurs.

The pundit has now told Football Insider: “I think the number ten role is somewhere Grealish could play at Tottenham. If Maddison isn’t available or isn’t on form, you need the backup and he could come in.

“But, from what I know, it comes down to money. Man City paid £100m, and I was at Villa when Daniel Levy wasn’t willing to spend £20m to bring him from the Championship. He’s 28 now, but they’ll still want a substantial fee.

“Grealish goes in and makes all teams better, when he’s on form and playing at the top level. I think he may well be happy where he is for the moment.”

Grealish is a fabulous player and someone that I love watching but I do not see him as a particularly good fit for Postecogluo’s system. The Australian likes attackers who move the ball forward quickly and run at their defenders with pace.

While Grealish is a fantastic ball carrier and is almost impossible to dispossess, he does take extra touches on the ball and slows the game down, which is not something that Ange would want.
