Massachusetts man convicted of indecent assault, rape

A Berkshire County man was sentenced to 10 to 12 years after assaulting and raping children in his care.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10)-- A Berkshire County man was sentenced to 10 to 12 years after assaulting and raping children in his care. Douglas Agyeh was also sentenced to three to five years concurrent to the rape conviction. The sentencing happened on Wednesday.

Charges

  • Five counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person Over 14
  • Nine counts of Rape of a Child with Force
  • Nine counts of Rape of a Child, Aggravated by Age

Agyeh was employed at a youth residential school in 2021 and was responsible for monitoring the safety of a student while they slept. He raped the student while they slept and, on another occasion, sexually assaulted a student while helping them fold their laundry.

Police said Agyeh tried fleeing to Canada before his trial, which was supposed to begin on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023. He was arrested as he entered Canada. The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office worked with the Department of Justice and Canadian law enforcement to transport Agyeh back to Massachusetts.
