Heavy traffic expected for SPAC's sold-out summer opener

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) kicks off its summer season on Sunday, May 19 with a sold-out concert by Hozier. The New York State Park Police said they are expecting heavy traffic in and around Saratoga Springs and SPAC on Sunday.

Park Police said the intersection at Avenue of the Pines, Route 50, and Geyser Road will have heavy congestion and long delays. To avoid this, drivers are encouraged to arrive from the south and have their payment ready in advance for parking.

Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early, carpool, use alternative modes of transportation, and drive sober. The concert is set to start at 7:30 p.m.

The southbound Route 50 left turn lane to eastbound Avenue of the Pines will be closed from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, said Park Police. Westbound Avenue of the Pines from Route 50 and westbound East West Road from Route 50 will be closed at the end of the show.

Allison Russell will be the opening act for the concert. Hozier is best known for the songs "Take Me to Church," "Someone New," and "Work Song."
