Buffalo man pleads guilty to manslaughter in connection with fatal shooting
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Buffalo man pleaded guilty Thursday to a first-degree manslaughter charge in connection with a fatal shooting early last year on Kensington Avenue, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.
Officials said 30-year-old Jerry L. Simpson fatally shot 37-year-old Jermaine Underwood with an illegal gun on the morning of Jan. 5, 2023 on the 900 block of Kensington. Simpson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Simpson also shot a second victim, a 31-year-old male, who was taken by ambulance to ECMC for treatment, according to officials. The victim was later released from the hospital.
Simpson faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced July 8, and he remains held without bail.
