Good morning, Mets fans! Take a deep breath, the schedule gets easier this weekend.

J.D. Martinez singled in the go-ahead run in the 11th inning and Jake Diekman struck out Kyle Schwarber with two men on to end the game as the Mets beat the Phillies, 6-5, to salvage the final game of a four-game series. New York went 2-5 in seven games with the Phillies and Atlanta Braves over the past week.

The Mets now head to Miami to face the Marlins, who have the worst record in baseball at 13-32. Rookie Christian Scott (0-1, 2.84 ERA) will try for his first major league win against Jesus Luzardo (0-3, 5.97 ERA) at 7:10 p.m. ET.

Lefty Nate Lavender had season-ending surgery on his pitching arm, president of baseball operations David Stearns told reporters.
